Grinch Classroom Party

So this year I am the room mom for my son's 3rd grade class, in past years I have only been 'Co-room mom' or just helped out whenever, so I have only had to plan one party throughout the year or so. But this year I have been in charge of all of them... Halloween, Christmas, and upcoming Valentines Day. For Halloween we did a Harry Potter theme, it was so much fun but I got so busy I forgot to take pictures and document everything... so I made sure to do it for this party!  One of my friends is the room mom for her son's class as well so we have been getting together and doing the planning for the parties, it is nice to share the insanity (and cost) with someone ") Anyway we decided that for Christmas to do something with the beloved book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. After much brainstorming, Googling, and lots of hours cutting and crafting I am proud to share our Grinchmas celebration!

To start off, on the 1st day of December we gave all the kids these adorable booklets we printed off found onSeussville.com to get them excited and in the spirit of Christmas! In the booklet it describes the Grinchmas season as doing one good deed each day and to spread holiday cheer. They come with all sorts of ideas that the kids can do each day. I just LOVE these!
Also in the booklet we included activity sheets, a Who-Pudding recipe, and a page where the kids could help give back by mailing in 3 good deeds that had done and Random House would donate a book to a child in need in their community! How amazing is that!
To help the kids remember to be doing good deeds I also made a large Grinch for the classroom and placed him on the wall with a pile of hearts that were cut out. Throughout the month when kids saw or did random acts of kindness, they would fill out a heart of what they saw/did and place it on the Grinch to help his heart grow.
There was lots of love in that classroom by the end of the month!
The day of the classroom party I decorated the outside of the classroom to welcome the kids to Whoville for their
Whobilation Celebration!
Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze! Welcome Christmas!
When the kids came inside the Grinch and Cindy Lou were there to great them, along with some classroom presents.
The classroom was also decorated for the celebration...
one of my favorite elements were the hanging ornaments from the ceiling, they just added that extra touch that makes me smile ")
For the party the kids watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
After the movie the kids enjoyed a Who Feast!
For the feast we served a can of Who Hash...
Our version of Who Hash was Chex Mix, pretzels, and M&M's. The can labels were designed by Food In Literature.
some delicious Who Pudding...
and a drumstick of  Who Roast Beast!
Aka: bag of popcorn
Special 'Whoville Guest' chair covers
Adorable straw flags from Soiree-Event Design.
 WH-2-O beverages
I absolutely adored these bottle labels from Make It Festive on Etsy.
After the feast the kids were divided into 3 groups and rotated around to different activities.
One of the rotations was a Grinch Punch-a-bunch game.
I set up a board with holes cut out to place cups in covered with tissue paper. The cups were all pre-filled and decorated for the party and so we just swapped out used ones with new cups for each rotation of kids. The kids would punch through an ornament and inside would be a question about the movie/book and a prize.
There were 2 different prizes they could win, one was a bag of green sixlet Grinch pills
and the other was a Grinch 'licked' candy cane ")
The next rotation station was a Grinch ornament craft for the kids to make. These were so adorable and easy to do!
The kids each got a clear ornament and swirled green paint inside. We had Grinch vinyl faces that the kids put on the outside of the ornaments, then colored the eyes yellow with a paint marker, and hot glued (an adult did the gluing) a strip of green feather boa around the top.
Then they flipped them over and put a heart sticker on the back and attached a tag with an ornament hook.
The last rotation was a photo booth were they could take fun pictures with their friends.
The Grinchmas banner was also from Make It Festive on Etsy, thanks again so much Mandy!

Thanks Kim and Lori from That's So Creative for sharing the wonderful props and inspiration!
Here are a few poses from some of the kids that I am friends with their mothers and they gave me permission to post
their kids picture...

There are so many other fantastic Grinch themed games, food ideas, and parties you could include or change for your own celebrations but I hope you enjoyed seeing our class party and wish you all a
  veryMerry Grinchmas!

Tips: This party was actually not too expensive. I used rolls of wrapping paper on sale from Hobby Lobby for the table runners, chair covers, photo backdrop and other areas; parents donated all the food for the feast; we used butcher paper from the school to make the whoville arch, whoville characters and grinches; the booklets were free printables and we bound them at the school as well; clear ornaments, paint, feather boas, paper straws, and ribbon were also on sale at Hobby Lobby; and all the cups, tissue paper, poster board and other little various items
 were from the dollar store.

Ghost Buster Birthday Party

We celebrated my son's 6th birthday last July
and I completely forgot to post it, I blame it on pregnancy brain!
Anyway during the summer Mason was really into the Ghost Buster movie, so I wasn't too surprised when the idea came up. He thinks that it is just hilarious! So we watched the movie again to get some ideas for the party.
Here is a peak at the invite...
There is one part in the movie where Slimer pops out of a hot dog cart with a mouth full of hot dogs, the instant I saw that I knew what we were going to be serving...
A local party/event rental store had a hot dog cart! SO PERFECT!
But is just wouldn't be complete without Slimer!
Slime Dogs!
I filled one of the ketchup bottles with green ketchup (aka: slime). Some of the kids loved it, others thought it was gross!
And you can't have a party without a dessert table anymore, so I did a pretty simple one because I wasn't feeling the greatest around the time of the party.
Slimed ghost cake and cupcakes
Chocolate covered oreos to match the color scheme
Marshmallow Pops

Slime jello
and ghost cake pops

I made silly little faces on each one just for fun :)
We also had some Ectoplasm to drink for those brave few...
I came up with a few activities that tied into the movie for the kids...
\
The kids built little Marshmallow Men out of toothpicks, various marshmallow sizes and colored them with edible ink markers.
Mason's Mallow Man!
Next was slime!
The kids loved this one! It doubled as an activity and a party favor. They got to make and color their own slime using a few ingredients. Then we put their slime in a little container with a logo to take home  later.
Favor table
Ghost trap favor boxes filled with sour gummy candies
Proton Silly String Streams
I also made proton packs for all the kids out of gift boxes and other various items. These were the biggest hit of the party!
The proton cans attached to the triggers on the proton packs so the kids could pull the trigger and out shoot the beams.
All the kids suited up and going Bustin'
Around the corner at the park lurked....
the MARSHMALLOW MAN!!!
It was SO SO SO fun to watch the kids just attack! Silly string was shooting everywhere!
I think they got him alright!
Well that wraps up the party for the most part. Alot of decorations and ideas were simplified or completely left out because I was just icky, but it turned out fine and all the kids had a blast! But I have to give a HUGE thanks to Jenny of Bloom Designs for all her fabulous custom work on all the party signs and labels! She was so great to work with and her details were amazing!  I hope you enjoyed a peak into Mason's 6th birthday party!

Reindeer Games Christmas Breakfast

I recently hosted a fun little 'Reindeer Games and Christmas Cheer' breakfast for my little church class for an end of the year party. All the kids came in their pj's and enjoyed some yummy food and fun games. Here are some of the details: Breakfast Bar
For breakfast we served all the Reindeer's favorite treats...
There was a mini hot chocolate bar also for the kids to enjoy!
Reindeer Crossing table settings
At each place setting there was a pair of plush antlers for the kids as well.
After breakfast is was time for some fun!
Pin the Nose on Rudolph
Don't eat the Reindeer...
Reindeer Roundup
Antler Ring Toss
After the games we had a little candy cane reindeer craft for the kids to make.
Our city has a fun little tradition were Santa rides around on a firetruck and tosses candy to all the little kids, this is always such a hit with the kids and was great that is just happened to be during the party as well :)
After all the games and Santa visit we headed back inside for the kids to make their own special blend of Magic Reindeer Grain.
Reindeer Grain has been a family tradition that I wanted to share with the other kids. Most people leave milk and cookies out for Santa so why not leave a treat for his Reindeer right?!? Usually we just use Oats and Glitter but I saw this idea of a Reindeer Grain Bar on the Dickerson Diaries and loved the idea!
We had such a fun time! Thanks so much for checking out our reindeer breakfast and hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Minion Teacher Appreciation

This year I was the room mom for my son's 3rd grade class. It has been a blast! But it has also given me a chance to get to know his teacher on a more personal level as well, and I could not have been more appreciative of all she has done for my son as well as the rest of the students in the class. She really was a lifesaver and went above and beyond the 'regular teacher' to help these kids succeed! I wanted to do something a little extra to show our gratitude and appreciation for all her hard work this year. So I asked the teacher if we could have an 'end of the year' party for the class, she said yes of course ") but I chose to make it more of a surprise thank you as well!

Usually the parties are right after their lunch/recess so that is when I usually rush into the classroom and set up the decorations for all the parties. This is pretty stressful and I am sure I look like a frantic mad lady, but thanks so the help of my good friend/next door neighbor it usually gets all done by the time the kids get back!

The desks were divided up into 4 tables and we threw on some table clothes, a quick centerpiece with some banana shaped confetti, and some snacks on each desk.
Each place setting had a cute little box of popcorn, mini water bottle, Minion goggles, and a Minion-ized banana.
For the centerpieces I covered an empty soup can with some blue denim patterned paper, filled with some curled yellow ribbon and a large cut out of a letter P (for Mrs. Porter) to resemble Gru's logo.
I just adored these water bottle labels!
We also set up a fun little treat table in honor of the teacher...
I made a small little Minion cake for the teacher to take home.
All the facial expressions just crack me up!
and these cookies were just too cute to eat!
Little 'P' logo cupcake toppers ")
I simply could not get over the cuteness of these banner letters.
This little guy was pure AWESOMENESS! It is a balloon over 40" tall that has weights on the bottom so he just stands and doesn't float away. He was a hit with all the kids!
To kick off the party the kids watched 6 mini Minion Movies while eating their snacks. Each movie is only 3-5 minutes each, perfect for just a short activity and treats.
After the movies they kids broke off into 4 different rotations for some more games and activities.
The first one was one I called 'Minion Pong'
The group was divided into 2 teams, one team had a blue paddle and the other had a yellow paddle (large tongue depressor/craft sticks glued onto the backs of paper plates), and given balloons with Minion faces on them.
The object of the game was to hit the balloons back and forth over a line on the floor and try not to let it hit the floor on your teams side. If it did hit the floor the other team got a point.
Pretty simple but very fun!
The kids created their own Minion for a craft station.
and played Minion Operation for another rotation...
For the last station the kids each thought of something like liked about their teacher and wrote it on the big poster. After they signed it they each got a cupcake to eat and lollipop to take home from the treat table.
For this I created a poster in Photoshop and sent it over to Costco to print. Then glued it onto a 20"x 30"piece of foam core board. This was so cute and some of the things the kids wrote were really sweet! It was a great way to end the year and the teacher got to keep this to look back on.
I almost forgot to mention that we hung up a large 3'x5' backdrop on the classroom white board that the kids could get their picture taken in front of if they wanted

Summer Fun Human Bowling

$

Today I wanted to share a fun game to help kids beat the heat
this summer, so this is our version of human bowling we call Wet & Wild Bowling! My kids have always loved to bowl so I thought this would be the perfect activity to kick off summer with some friends, plus it is SO simple!

First I ordered some large inflatable bowling pins online, I got mine on sale for around $15 here, but there are plenty different kinds out there so shop around, and then all you need is a slip’n slide. I was at good old Walmart one day and saw a 3 lane slip’n slide and just new it would be perfect, the bigger the better!
Now for the fun part just follow the instructions on your box to set up your slide, inflate pins and arrange at the end of the slide… let the games begin!
Oh my goodness, I can’t even tell you how much fun this was! Some of the adults might just have gone down a few times too… You HAVE to try it! Also to make it more fun we printed off a score sheet, gave the kids team names and kept track of pins knocked down, same style as regular bowling, but we made up our own point system since there was 6 pins instead of 10.
I thought it would be fun to make the kids hooded towels instead of bowling jerseys with their team name. There are lots of simple tutorials on Pinterest to make hooded towels, and I just added 2 strips of red ribbon to give them a bowling pin look. One of the sweet ladies in my neighborhood that my kids have deemed as their second grandma embroidered a team name on back for that extra fun touch!
I also used our simple patio furniture to set up place settings were the kids could sit back and relax to watch the games and enjoy some treats.
These adorable cookie favors and award ribbons were made by my incredibly talented neighbor Anna Dawn! Could not have pulled this off without her ")
And no summer party is complete without some yummy treats!
We used printables from Amanda’s Parties To Go and lots of treats you can find at the local grocery and party stores to create a delightful dessert table!
More amazing cookies from my amazing neighbor  “)
I love it when cookies are standing up rather than laying flat on dessert tables,
it really adds that extra WOW factor!
I just adore these bowling pin containers filled with mini marshmallows.
Such a quick and easy party favor!
I hope you enjoyed our summer party and it inspires you to STRIKE up your own summer fun! If you like what you see then please leave a comment or check out some of our other parties! Thanks for stopping by ")

Puppy Paw-ty

My sweet little girl turned 6 this year and after changing her mind multiple times we FINALLY landed on a puppy party! We started off from doing a Build-A-Bear party, to a Tooth Fairy party, then a teddy bear picnic, and when I was about to loose it she said she wanted a puppy party so I put my foot down and went with that! But can I just tell you I had a blast panning this and loved the way it all turned out. So without further jabber I am pleased to show you pics from Avery's Puppy Paw-ty!
Let's start off with the treats because those are
always my favorite part!
For the dessert table I made a cute little puppy cake for the centerpiece and then
added treats themed by all a dog's favorite things.
I loved the playful and simple look of the cake. If I actually found a dog that looked like this then we probably would have adopted it!
We went with a fun alternative for the backdrop banner, instead of saying the traditional "Happy Birthday" I wanted to play on words and say "Avery's Barkery" since they were all dog themed treats. I absolutely adore the assortment of printables from Marbella Printables we used throughout the party!
Here is a quick review of all the treats we had... but lots of pictures!
Next to the cake we had a bowl of mini bone shaped chocolates.
My amazing friend nailed it again with these
adorable bone shaped cookies!
For the Beggin' Stips we just wrapped labels around
Kit Kat candy bars.
These were 3 pieces of Twizzler's Pull 'n' Peel braided
together and knotted at each end.
The Kibbles n Bits was trail mix, and the Puppy Chow was peanut butter & cocoa ball cereal. I had to eat a couple bites myself to convince the kids that the puppy chow wasn't really dog food!
On each side of the cake we had some large jawbreakers I added white lines to look like tennis balls.
But my absolute favorite treats where these candy kabobs from Sweets Indeed! They were so so so perfect! From the coordinating colors, to the bone and paw print accents, I honestly had a hard time letting the kids take them... I know I am pathetic!
We served beverages out of a cute fire hydrant drink dispenser that I painted pink to match the color scheme, love the way it turned out!
And the straw tags just make me giggle with joy...
Finally on the opposite side of the dessert table we had a bunch of little white doggie bags that the kids could fill up treats to take home.
Here are some of the fun little details from
the table and place settings...
I made a little chandelier hanging of the table using brown lanterns, blue pom poms, pink honeycomb balls, and finished it off with
dog bone shaped balloons.
The brown square paper plates where dressed up with a paw print printable on sticker paper in the middle.
wooden fork and a little napkin wrapped with a
printable wrapper on the sides.
I bought these bone shaped bottle from Oriental Trading and dressed them up by covering the lid with washi table and a water bottle label around the middle.
I found these mini dog bowls on Ebay for less than $1 each. They were the perfect size to compliment the cupcakes!
For the centerpieces we used printable party circles glued on some skewers and stuck in tall cylinder vases filled with dog bone shaped sprinkles some cute little signs.
I love, love, LOVE these dog bone shaped balloons!
Just a pic of all the extra cupcakes and cute
varieties of toppers we had!
Now that I covered the little details that I love so much onto the activities that the kids loved so much. When all the friends arrived I painted their little faces with some Halloween makeup and put on a dog collar. Then they ran around the backyard playing in a bounce house we rented with large inflatable balls.
After awhile when the kids were all exhausted they came
inside for the next activity.
We had a table set up with some little stuffed dogs and houses.
The kids got to pick up a pet puppy to adopt and
paint a little house for it.
The houses were actually bird houses from Micheals that my husband cut a larger opening and added a little dog bone cutout from Cut Line Craft.
We found these adorable pups from the dollar store :)
Each kid got an adoption certificate to fill out for their animal.
Here is the birthday girl's dog and house.
Oriental Trading had these adorable little bracelets that were perfect for dog collars. They also got a little box of tennis ball shaped
gumballs to take home with their puppy.
Well that pretty much wraps up the details and I hope
you enjoyed our little Paw-ty!

Dino Hunt/Movie Party

I had the pleasure of helping one of my dearest friend
with her son's birthday party this month. After talking with her on his interests and likes, Nerf guns and movies, we decided on a dinosaur themed party that we could incorporate both! Once we had the theme I knew the perfect set of printables to use from the wonderful Etsy shop Amandas Parties To Go! When it comes to party planning Amanda has thought of everything, seriously! The wide variety of themes comes with everything you could possibly think
of for you event! Check it out...
We placed a welcome sign outside her house and the guests followed the dino prints into the backyard for the party.
How cute are these footprints!?!
In the backyard we had set up some tables for a light lunch.
For the centerpiece we used the party circles hot glued onto some skewers and positioned in a large jar of chocolate rocks.
I created a cluster of tissue poms, honeycomb balls, and paper lanterns to hang over the table for a little extra color.
For the place settings we used these adorable place mats which were the perfect activity to do while munching away on some food!
For lunch we served little Carnivore sandwiches, individual deli style Herbivore salads, and packages of Snackivore chips.
After lunch the kids all headed to the little field area behind the house for a little Dino Hunt... aka:Nerf gun War!
Using Amanda's dinosaur designs as a template we cut out larger versions from refrigerator boxes and spray painted them matching colors for the kids to hide behind or use as shields.
We placed the dinosaurs all over the field and in some bushes and shrubs to make it more fun. This was probably one of my most favorite elements of the party, and coincidentally
one of the cheapest too!
It was so fun to watch the boys rolling around and hiding behind the dinos! I loved it... and so did they! After a little over an hour we finally had to call them in for the next part of the party but they honestly could have gone on for another hour if not longer!
So anyway after the Nerf gun war the guests headed downstairs to my friends movie theater room for some more treats and to watch the new dvd release of Jurassic World.
We had a fun assortment of dino desserts for the boys to
snack on during the movie!

Chocolate ice cream with chunks of white chocolate bones inside. We picked up some little fossil kits from the dollar store and used the tools from those for the utensils.
How amazing are these cookies!?! I can't get over how cute they are!
Yes, those are REAL INSECTS inside some amber colored toffee bars! I got the idea for these from the first Jurassic Park movie where they take the DNA for the dinosaurs from inside mosquitoes fossilized in amber. I was beyond exstatic when I found these online from Hotlix. And the boys were hilarious with these... they kept daring each other to take a bite!

All kicked back and ready for the show!

And last but not least when the party was over we sent home jumbo sized jawbreakers for party favors...

Thanks for checking out our Dino Hunt/Movie party! I hope it inspires your own celebration, and be sure to check out Amanda's Parties To Go for all their wide varieties of printable party packages! It really makes party planning so much easier and gives it that complete and finished look that will amaze all your guests!

Great Pumpkin Classroom Party

Here we go again!
I just had so much fun doing my son's classroom parties last year that I signed up to be the 'room mom' again this year, but it is for my daughters kindergarten class. Kindergartners are on a completely different level than 3rd graders, so keep that in mind when you check out this years classroom activities...
they are much more simpler.

When I got an email from Oriental Trading featuring the new stock Peanuts products for the holidays I just new I had to use them! The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is one of our families favorite Halloween movies :) So without further intro here is our Great Pumpkin Classroom Party:

To start the party off we watched the movie, it is only about 20 minutes long, perfect length to keep the kindergartners attention and not take up too much time for the rest of the party.
The kids munched on bags of popcorn during the show...

We mixed those mini candy corn style pumpkins with the popcorn for a fun movie treat.
After the movie the kids separated into 4 groups to rotate around the classroom for different 10 minute activities, about 40 minutes total for all the kids to complete all rotations. For the activities I tried to create some that would tie in with the movie... I know a little OCD!
For the first activity we set up a Linus' pumpkin patch in the classroom, this was my absolute favorite element of the party!
We filled the patch with cupcakes decorated to look like pumpkins for their treat, did I mention how much I just loved this!
As a retired cake decorator it drives me nuts that I can't make treats at home and take them to the school, everything has to be store bought.... that being said I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the cupcakes I ordered from our local grocery store. I thought they turned out quiet wonderfully!
For this station the kids picked a pumpkin cupcake from the patch and colored some fun Peanuts coloring pages while they ate.
The kids each got their own small pack of
crayons to color with and take home.
We included some blank comic strips too for the kids to
fill in their own words if they wanted :)
Totally in love with the napkins!
Oh, and here is a picture of the cute little table clothes :)
The next rotation was bobbing for apples...
Now I personally think bobbing for apples in a big
community bucket is absolutely disgusting!!!
So instead I went to the dollar store and picked up 8 plastic tubs so the kids could bob for their own individual apple. After each rotation we did a quick wash and refill with a new apple and water,
it worked out great!
My own cute little Rainbow Dash bobbling for her apple :)
After that we had a fun little Snoopy game.
For this station I used my kids stuffed Snoopy with a Flying Ace costume we got from Kholes a couple years ago, knew it would come in handy some day!
I also picked up this super adorable dog house from Build A Bear! They have lots of Peanuts themed merchandise right now for the new movie so it was perfect.
Each kid took multiple turns trying to shoot Snoopy off of his dog house. I know, so simple, but they enjoyed it!
And for the last rotation the kids made sucker ghosts.
I thought that this was perfect because it was simple enough for them to do and also tied into the movie with the kids wearing ghost costumes when they went trick-or-treating.
I used the tutorial fromLynlee's trunk or treat to make these fun little characters from the movie to stand around this activity,

Oriental Trading also had these adorable Snoopy headband crafts that I just had to get so I included them into the sucker making station which made the timing perfect for the kids!
That is it for this years Halloween class party, I hope you enjoyed, I know I had lots of fun doing it! But I have to thank Charles Schulzfor creating such lovable characters many years ago that I have enjoyed as a child and now have the pleasure of
sharing with my own children.
Also just little tip that made it so easy for us to pull of this party.... lots of parent helpers!!! We had around 8 parents come and help, so I put 2 in charge of each station to help the kids with their activity and also set up the crafts, apple bobbing, and place settings after each rotation. It was so nice to have the many mom's come and help... I got to mosey around taking pictures and make sure all the stations were running smoothly :)

Santa's Workshop Classroom Party

$

I just have to say that this is by far my favorite classroom
party that we have done yet!!! This time I teamed up with my awesome friend from Memories by AnnaDawn that you may have heard me mention in some previous posts, she does all my cookies, who also signed up to be a room mom for her daughter's class.
To start things off we decorated the outside of our classrooms to look like an elf sized building, in this case Santa's Workshop. I love decorating the classroom doors for parties, I didn't do this last party and really missed it, I think it helps set the mood and gets the kids excited. Here is my little workshop:
and here is a little peek atAnna Dawn'sdoor...
I love the lattice window covers and wood grain on the door!

Now back to the party details. One of the kindergarten mom's is friends with a local Santa so she contacted him to see if he would come visit the kindergarten classes for a little bit and he was more than willing too! How wonderful! So we gathered the 2 classes together in the other classroom, and teacher told the kids that we had a special visitor coming, when she opened the outside door it was so magical! All the kids faces lit up with delight
as they waved and cheered!
The teacher had a special chair next to a tree and fireplace set up for Santa to sit on while he visited with the children, so cute!
He was so sweet talking to the children and
read them a Christmas story,
and just before he left Santa gave all the little kids a candy cane!
As the our kids left the other classroom and entered their classroom we had it all set up for Santa's Workshop.
We told the kids that Santa needed some extra help at the North Pole so the kids needed to become little elves to help him out.
They each got a North Pole ID badge and an elf name...
The kids got an elf name by picking them out of boxes. In the first box there were names like Jingle,  Holly, Kringle, Chipper, Puddin' and more on little stickers to place on their name tags. Then in the second box were last names like Gingersnaps, Floppy Feet, Merry Clause, Sprinkle Pants as such also on little stickers to place on their badges underneath their first name. They really
got a kick out of their new elf names!
They also got a standard uniform elf hat, complete with ears. The ears were made out of cardstock and attached with a simple stitch so the kids could take them off if they wanted.
My daughter's name was "Candy McRibbon",
I must say that kind of fits her!
There where 4 different JOBS (rotations) for the elves to do.
First: Toymaking and Painting
I can't get over how cute these place mats are!!! This is what made me fall in love with the Santa's Workshop collection from Loralee Lewis that inspired this whole party!
The kids each got to paint a little wooden toy car for this station,
we made sure to write their names on their plate that they painted their car on so we could set them aside while
they dried (just a helpful tip).
Next up was Cookie Decorating and Testing
Anna Dawn made up these super adorable place mats for this station based off the tool making station, How cute is
 that cookie sheet border!
Each place setting had their own bag of frosting to
decorate with  and in the center of the table was bowls of
different candies and sprinkles.
Some kids were very particular on how they decorated their cookies...
and some others just went fot it!
Then they visited the Wrapping Department to decorate and wrap and Christmas present.
This department was divided up into 4 stations:
We pre-cut all the wrapping paper to the right size to
make it a little easier.
I wanted to give this rotation more of workplace feel so I create a backdrop using a large cork board pinned with all sorts of themed signs and pictures.
The kids decorated a little ornament to put inside their present.
The last JOB of an elf is taking care of Santa's reindeer so we had a 'make your own grain' station.
The kids got to create their own mixture of Magical Reindeer Grain to take home of oats, raisins, bread crumbs, coconut, and glitter.
Feeding reindeer is a messy job!
Making grain doesn't take very long so we created a little 'Don't Feed The Reindeer' game to go along with this station.
For this game the kids tried to shoot food (aka: pom poms)
into the reindeer's mouth.
We made little Pom pom shooters out of cups and balloons,
you can find the simple tutorial here.
"Look mom! The reindeer ate me!"
After all the elves finished working they visited the Break room
for some refreshments...
The kids enjoyed some Elf-sized morsels (cherry chocolates), Santa's favorite cookies, some candy gumdrops, a cup of Cheer (chocolate milk) and got a little Elf Toolbox to take home. We gave the cupcakes to the parents who helped out (and the cake was fake, just for looks).
I got an elf hat and shoes set from Oriental Trading and put
the hat on the chocoalte milk and the shoes on the
table legs just for a fun touch.
How stinking cute are these cups!
But my most favorite part where these little toolboxes
we made for all the kids!
Anna Dawn designed these little boxes out of foam core and then we covered them with wood patterned contact paper. The labels were from Loralee Lewis.
We filled them with some chocolate tools, candy cane hammer, and a little bubble gum measuring tape.

I hope you enjoyed our elf-sized party and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a  New Happy Year of Parties!

Cupid Airlines Classroom Party

Welcome back for another classroom party idea! These are quickly becoming one of my favorite events to do! I teamed up with my dear friend Anna Dawn again, she is going to be starting a new party line called Confetti Dreams coming soon so be on the look out for her fabulous designs! Speaking of designs, once I saw this adorable Valentine set from Gwynn Wasson Designs on Etsy my heart skipped a beat and I knew I HAD to use them! This set has SO MUCH, Gwynn seriously thought of everything! Now that we had our "Fly Away With Me" airplane theme, we set off to come up with fun treats and activities. Here is my party over view:
We decided on doing 5 different rotations for the party so the groups would be a little bit smaller and easier to manage. This party was planned for my daughter's kindergarten class, but Anna Dawn has a child in 5th grade. We planned the same theme, treats, but a few of the activities we did were different to fit the kids different ages. This theme is really versatile, the sky's the limit with all the things you could do to fit your needs!

First stop was Air Mail:
At this station kids made a valentine card for their teacher. They got creative with lots colored paper, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, etc. and put them in Mrs. Brun's mailbox. The things the kids wrote on and in the cards were so precious!
The next activity we called Now Boarding:
At last year's Wild About You class party we had the kids go on a little scavenger hunt around the school that was really fun, so we decided to try incorporate something similar again.
For this activity we gave the kids each a passport with an airline ticket. Also inside the passports was a sheet of stickers that looked like stamps from different countries.
The passports we got from Oriental Trading and just replaced to covers with ones made to match our party theme.
We had previously placed maps around the school with a sheet of information about that country, a flag, and also how they say "love" in that country (since it's Valentines Day
and all). The gate numbers on the Departure sign where
the classroom number that each city was by.
Check out these adorable tickets that you can edit yourself from SIMONE Made It! We used the school and class info, room number, and the time of the party to fill the ticket information.

Time to board the plane...
The chairs had pockets on them where the students keep their daily folders, so I took out the folders and put in a little magazine and air sickness bag for fun!
Inside was a little "i spy" game the kids could do while
they where waiting.
Avery was just a little excited to go "fly" around the school!

When the kids "landed" at each country, the flight attendant (parent helper) told them a little bit about that particular place and had them put the coordinating sticker on one of the pages in their passports.
When the kids landed the next station they went to was
Flight School:

Runway 14 for Valentine's Day

For this activity the kids folded paper airplanes and tried to throw them through a heart shaped ring.
When they made it in they got their pilot wings!
We got pilot wings donate from JetBlue to give to all the kids, and covered the middle logo with a blue circle and red heart
to tie in with our party colors.

So proud of her wings!
P.S. Don't mind the cat hat,
she loves it and wears it literally everywhere.
Next stop was the Craft Terminal:
At this station the kids made candy airplanes out of a stick of gum, smarties, lifesavers, and a rubber band. Sorry there are not more pics of this station, I was busy helping out and forgot to snap a picture until the party was all over. They also decorated their Valentine bags at this station too, the teacher was the one who put that together so there are no pics of that either but you can use your imagination :)
Last but not least was the In-Flight Service station:

The flight attendant (aka: parent helper) gave each child as they sat down some treats to eat while they colored their In Flight Entertainment place mats,
Eeek! How cute are these airplane forks!

Here comes the airplane...

If you have at least two helpers for this station then it really makes putting out the napkins, place mats, crayons, etc. a lot easier and faster in between the rotations... just a helpful hint.

We had a snack bar set up that the flight attendants would give kids treats from as they did their activity sheets. While the kids ate, they would also restock the snack bar to keep the layout simple.

Each kid got a cupcake, snack bag, cotton candy cone, lollipop, and juice box... can we say sugar overload! Most kids just ate their cupcakes, cotton candy, and drank their juice. We told them to put their lollipops in their valentine bags and eat those at home.

These Propeller Pops where my absolute fave!
They actually SPIN around!

The snack bags were pretzels mixed with some
conversation hearts to give them a valentine touch.

We got unfrosted cupcakes from a local grocery store and I frosted them with store bought frosting and topped with little airplanes.
I love having special treats for the parents who come help out during these parties as a way to say thank you. Our compass cookies were not store bought so the kidscould not eat them (our school had a policy on store bought treats only for classroom treats), but hand made (and SO delicious) by Anna Dawn
so they were perfect for the parents!
That completes our activities for the party but on the way out the door the kids stopped by the Baggage Claim and
grabbed a favor to take home.
Oh my goodness, I still can't get over the cuteness
of these little suitcases!
The middles slid open and inside were some mini globe chocolate balls, an airplane whizzing whistle, and a little card that said "the world is a better place with you in it."
Thank you for soaring over this party with us today and hope you enjoyed your flight! Check out some of the vendors below to recreate this party for your classroom or any other event...

O-FISH-ally '3' Party!

I am SO EXCITED to share with you my youngest daughters 3rd birthday! I had so much fun planning this party inspired from this amazing printable set from Amanda's Parties To Go! Afton LOVES fish, she calls them "shishy", this set was so perfect from the bright vibrant colors to the goldfish theme.
Please bear with me as I go through this party, there are lots of pictures and I don't want to miss a single detail...
First up when guests arrived we had fun little place settings for all the little friends to sit at and color, perfect for the age group.
Each setting had an edible goldfish pet! The cute little fish is a cake pop, the gravel in the bottom of each bowl is Candyfetti, and the seaweed is strips of edible wafer grass (available for Easter baskets). Eeeeek! I am dying over these!
An adorable coloring page to keep the little ones occupied.
We used boat wraps to cover small  cups and filled them with some crayons and a little goldfish on a rod for an accent.
One of my favorite elements was the centerpiece...
Using cutouts from Amanda's printable set, we placed them in a fish bowl with 3 live goldfish!
I am such a sucker for Krazy Straws! They are such a fun way to dress up your drinks, these goldfish ones will always have a special place in my heart...
And lastly each place setting had a little bag of fishy kisses.
The dessert table we set up for this party is my absolute favorite to date! I wanted to create a display that the treats were actually a part of so it was one cohesive design... I think we nailed it!
Guests enjoyed coming up and picking edible elements off the table!
In the center of the table was a mini 6" cake that I made to match the cupcake wrappers and topped with mini cutouts from the printable set.
On each side of the cake were stands with cupcakes on them, with coordinating wrappers and cupcake toppers.
We accented the table with printable seaweed cutouts and seaweed that the guests could eat. The edible seaweed were strips of sour candy weaved on to skewers,
the best tasting seaweed I have ever had!
I also used the large printable goldfish cutouts to place all around the table varying in different heights to give them the look as
though they were swimming...
At each end of the table where tall jars of
pink chocolate balls and orange taffy.
My amazing friend from Confetti Dreams, Anna Dawn, created these amazing sea shell and  goldfish cookies to match the printables. They were absolute perfection!
The fish cookies were propped up against blue candy ribbon waves along the base of the dessert table.
and how stinkin' cute are these gold dipped rock candy coral sticks!
Donuts seem to be the 'it' treat this year so I had to include these super cute mini pink ombre colored donuts on the table...
The base of the table was covered with TONS of crushed graham crackers, so even the ground was edible!
One of the last treats we had one the table were these cute little chocolate covered Oreos.
To make them I melted blue chocolate candies, poured them over Oreos in a mold. Once they hardened I put a thin layer of more blue melted chocolate on the top and dipped them in the same Candyfetti mixture that was in the mini goldfish bowls and topped with another chocolate molded sea shell.
Here's just a little bit more eye candy...
The birthday girl only had eyes for the treats!
I loved this cute little gold fish bow in her hair.
She may have snatched a cupcake when I wasn't looking
before the party started... what could I do, it is her birthday after all!
The last table we had set up were for the party favors.
These GIANT goldfish balloons were so much fun,
I wish I had ordered more of them for the party!
Guests took home these adorable little pink pails filled with goldfish crackers and a goldfish in a bag soap favor.
These goldfish bags with coordinating tags where seriously so cute!
Afton loved the giant fish balloons!
She kept giving them fishy kisses...
I love this silly little girl so much! Happy birthday sweetie!

Harry Potter Trunk-or-Treat

As you may know from previous posts that we
are huge Harry Potter fans and I have been dying waiting for the new Fantastic Beasts movie to come out... I had an itch that needed to be scratched! Our wonderful church hosted another trunk-or-treat this year and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to release some of the anticipation! So here is a quick recap of our fun little Harry Potter themed trunk...
My two oldest wore robes and my for my youngest I just cut an slits into an old pillow case and she became our house elf... simple and quick costumes!
To decorate the trunk I used items from a Harry Potter party from a couple years ago as well as some items from my son's Harry Potter themed bedroom, so this trunk was easy and didn't cost much to do.
On the front of the table I printed off a large Hogwarts banner and crest from Printyca.
We had to hang some floating candles.
For treats we served up some of Honeydukes finest!
Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans
Droobles Best Chewing Gum

Exploding Bon Bons
Peppermint Toads
Dumbledore's favorite... Sherbet Lemons
and last but not least Chocolate Frogs!

Each of the frog boxes came with a famous witch or wizard card.

We stocked the table with the variety of the treats and just refilled the table as kids came along and picked one to take. The prep work of putting all the boxes together was a bit time consuming (approx. 150 different treats total) but was SO worth it!
The rest of the table was filled with potions, wands, owls,
books, and lots of fun little items.

It was such a fun night, and I can garuantee that this will not be our last Harry Potter celebration,
so check back often for more posts!

Nerf War Birthday Party

Hello to any SYD readers that may still be around! It has been a long time since I last posted. Life got really busy really fast and I took a much needed break from the party world. Going forth in the future I will do parties and post on here (I still love doing them so much), but it will be not as often as I have loads of other things in my life right now that I need to focus on first. With that being said thank you for taking to time to view and comment, I love reading even though I haven't responded to any in quite a while, I am very sorry! I am going to try and just pick up from where I left off and move forward.

The past couple years my oldest son has wanted to do location parties (water parks, arcades, etc.) so left decorations and such to a minimum so I decided not to post them here. Therefore there is quite the gap from his last birthday party to this one. As it was getting close to his 11th birthday (ummm 2 weeks before his birthday)  we were throwing around some ideas and one he mentioned was having a Nerf war with friends. I totally jumped on that because I knew it was something that I could do from home (aka party planning back on)! With 2 weeks until party day, Amazon Prime and printable downloads from Etsy were my best friends! Here is an overview of the party details...

When kids arrived they suited up for war! Kids picked a weapon, got a pair of safety glasses, a package of bullets, and sash to hold their ammo and guns.
These sashes were my absolute favorite from Mazzie Mae Boutique!
Safety First!
These packages of bullets and mini guns also served as party favors.
Once they were all ready to go we went outside for a little target practice, then we just let the kids go at it!
Buckets of bullets were spread throughout the yard to keep them going.
After a couple hours of shooting it up we took a break to freshen up and refuel with some party treats.
The treat table was a quick setup with a few goodies to snack on.
Edible fondant bullets on the cupcakes give it that extra fun touch!

For the center of the table I made a target cake but displayed it standing up.
The table with all the place settings was probably my favorite though...
Using pool noodles and orange construction paper, we created these larger versions of Nerf bullets for the centerpiece.
We also printed off these targets to give each place setting a little excitement, but guests could also take them home for a little extra target practice. I love it when party elements double as decor and function!
That pretty much wraps up our quick little Nerf party, I know it's not the most AMAZING party out there but who said every party has to be a show stopper right!?! Just look at these kids, they had a blast and I'm just grateful to be able to share these memories with them!

Faith is Like a Seed Baptism

Our sweet daughter chose to get baptized and become a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and make covenants with our Heavenly Father. We are so proud of the young lady she growing to be.  She is already looking forward to the day she can enter the sacred temples.
Her Special Day:

Her father performed the ordinance of baptism and confirmation. Then she asked her cousins to give talks, prayers, and help out with the music. It really was such a wonderful experience to hear testimonies from these sweet kids!
Our eternal family!
After the baptism we celebrated with some yummy treats...
Delicious cupcakes, cookies, cream puffs, and macrons to snack on!
These gorgeous paper flowers were made by aliiras_backdrops. They were not only affordable but the details were amazing! You can see the time it took to make each one!
This amazing printable kid from Recathi was absolutely perfect!
